LaTeX is a typesetting system commonly used for producing professional scientific documents and presentations. LaTeX allows you to focus on content creation while the system manages the layout and the formatting.

  • Usage of counters and lengths
  • Definition of custom commands and environments
  • Inclusion of graphics, images, and source code
  • Creation of presentations

After completing the course, you will be able to create professional-quality scientific documents, such as theses, research papers, and presentations, using LaTeX. You will be able to manage document structure, format text, include graphics, and customize your documents.

Important Information:

  • You need an own laptop which can run a LaTeX environment (typically Windows, MacOS, Linux).
  • You write the exam on your own laptop (“bring your own device” exam) and you may use any offline LaTeX environment and any offline documentation such as pdfs or printouts. Other aids are not allowed; in particular, usage of internet, email or artificial intelligence (online or offline) is not permitted during the exam.
  • The course is taught as “inverted classroom” meaning that the course material can be studied independently based on weekly instructions. The presence time is reserved for answering questions and discussing the solutions of the exercises.
  • The course is taught in English language.
