Technical Optics Lab

Lab manager: Prof. Dr. Jochen Seufert

The focus of the laboratory for technical optics is on the areas of optical measurement and sensor technology. For this purpose various laser sources are available in the laboratory, e.g. several He-Ne lasers, a CO2 laser and a semiconductor laser (wavelength 2.7 µm) for ultra high resolution sensing of atmospheric gases.

The lab is run in collaboration with the Department of Medical Technology of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

Current projects include:

• Laser-based measurement of glucose concentration in human blood
• Construction of a Q-switched CO2 laser
• Construction of a fully automated Michelson interferometer
• High-resolution measurement of the carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere
