Intensive Spoken English (C1) - Exam number: 9956070W

This intensive course is designed to prepare students to effectively communicate at work, in school, during their internship, and for studying abroad. The course is given at the advanced level (C1) and will focus on honing skills for listening and speaking.

The spoken portion will entail::

• role play in routine work and academic situations, including but not limited to discussions, meetings, conferences, negotiating, and interviews; and
• presentations on specific subjects as well as leading subsequent discussions

The listening portion will entail:

• understanding authentic recordings and videos such as technical discussions, presentations, lectures. Listening for gist and listening for details will be trained;
• taking notes from recordings; and
• writing up the notes from the recordings.

There will be a 50 minutes oral exam (20 minutes productive and 30 minutes receptive) at the end of the course.
